Baptisms are celebrated every third Sunday of each month during all Masses with Fr. Craig Pregana or at a 1:15 pm service with one of our deacons. 

If you are first time parents we do encourage you to take a Baptismal Prep Class. 

Here are the dates for Baptism Prep. All dates are Saturdays and the classes will be from 10-11:30am:

The Sacrament of Reconciliation

The Sacrament of the Reconciliation, also known as Confession, is a beautiful opportunity to experience God's mercy, forgiveness, and healing. Through this sacrament, we are reconciled with God and the Church and receive the grace to continue to grow in our relationship with Christ.

Whether you are returning to Confession after many years or receieve the sacrament regularly, you are always welcome.

Every 2nd Thursday of the Month:

• 6:30 PM (In the Adoration Chapel) (October 8th)

Fridays: 

• 8:30 AM (following the Daily Mass)

Saturdays:

• 3:30 PM (before the 4:00PM Mass)

Sundays: 

• 12:30 PM (following the Spanish Mass)
• 5:00 PM (before the 5:30PM Mass)

At St. John the Evangelist, we believe that faith formation is a journey shared by the whole family. Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist is part of our Family Faith Formation program, where children and their families grow together is faith and prepare to receive the sacraments.

Families are highly encouraged to actively participate in Mass, parish life, family faith formation, and the sacramental preparation process as their children prepare for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist.

Preparing to Receive the Holy Spirit

Confirmation completes and strengthens the grace received at Baptism. Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit and strengthened to live as faithful witnesses of Christ.

Interested in Confirmation?

If you or your child is interested in preparing for the Sacraments of Confirmation, the first step is to attend Mass.

Information about upcoming Confirmation opportunities, meetings, and preparation will be shared through our weekly bulletin and on the website. A weekly flyer will provide the most current information and next steps.

We encourage all those interested in Confirmation and their families to participate regularly in Sunday mass.

Begin you Preparation Early

Marriage Preparation takes time, and we encourage couples to begin the process well in advance. Eight to ten months before your wedding is ideal, allowing you and your fiancé sufficient time to prayerfully prepare without feeling rushed.

All couples are required to participate in a Diocesan Marriage Preparation Program as part of their preparation.

A Call to Serve

The Sacrament of Holy Orders is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church through which Christ's mission continues to be carried out in the Church. Though Holy Orders, men are called to serve God's people as deacons, priests, or bishops.

A vocation to Holy Orders is a special call from God to a life of prayer, service, and dedication to the Church. Discerning this call is a journey that takes time, prayer, guidance, and openness to where God may be leadin you.

Priesthood and the Diaconate

Priests are called to serve the Church by proclaiming the Gospel, celebrating the Sacraments, offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, and shepherding God's people.

Deacons are ordained ministers called to serve the Church through the proclamation of the Gospel, preaching, assisting at the alter, celebrating baptisms and marriages, and serving those in need. The permanent diaconate is a vocation open to both single and married men who meet the requirements of the Church.

If you or someone you know is prayerfully discerning a vocation to priesthood or diaconate, we encourage you to take the next step. You do not have to have all the answers before reaching out. A conversation with a vocation director can help you learn more about the discernment process and the different ways God may be calling you to serve.

Accompanying Those Who Are Sick or Homebound

The Church desires to accompany those who are experiencing illness, facing a serious health challengem or are unable to attend Mass. Through prayer, the Sacramentsm and the presence of our parish community, we seek to bring the love and compassion of Christ to those who are unable to join us at church.

If you or someone you know is homebound, hospitalized, or unable to attend Mass and would lke to receive Holy Communion and/or the Anointing of the Sick, please contact the Parish Office.

We are happy to help arrange a visit and make sure that those who are unable to attend Mass remain conntected to the sacramental and spiritual life of our parish community.

Becoming Catholic

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a journey of faith for adults who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Church and discerning whether God may be calling them to become Catholic.

OCIA is also an opportunity for baptized Catholics who have not yet received all of the Sacraments of Initiation - Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist to receive the sacraments they are missing.

Throughout the process, participants learn about the Catholic faith, Sacred Scripture, the Sacraments, the Trinity, Christian morality, the Church, and Catholic social teaching. Most importantly, OCIA is a time of faith sharing, prayer, reflection, and growing in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

The OCIA journey typically begins in the fall and continues throughout the year, leading up to the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.
