Los padres por primera vez deben tomar nuestro Programa de Preparación Bautismal antes de que su hijo sea bautizado en la comunidad.

Al darles la bienvenida a estos padres de una manera especial, siempre estamos buscando personas para ser voluntarios en este ministerio, por lo que estos programas de preparación son experiencias de aprendizaje y de oración antes de que una pareja bautice a su hijo.

REUNIONES DE PADRES:

Las parejas voluntarias facilitan y dirigen debates para los padres que están bautizando a su primer hijo. El programa consiste en una reunión con otras parejas para aclarar la comprensión del sacramento. Existe la oportunidad de reunirse y hablar con el párroco y el diácono, e interactuar con otros padres.

CREANDO TÚNICAS BAUTISMALES

Los voluntarios construyen (cortan, aserran y monograman) las túnicas de los bebés.

At St. John the Evangelist, we believe that faith formation is a journey shared by the whole family. Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist is part of our Family Faith Formation program, where children and their families grow together is faith and prepare to receive the sacraments.

Families are highly encouraged to actively participate in Mass, parish life, family faith formation, and the sacramental preparation process as their children prepare for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist.

Preparing to Receive the Holy Spirit

Confirmation completes and strengthens the grace received at Baptism. Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit and strengthened to live as faithful witnesses of Christ.

Interested in Confirmation?

If you or your child is interested in preparing for the Sacraments of Confirmation, the first step is to attend Mass.

Information about upcoming Confirmation opportunities, meetings, and preparation will be shared through our weekly bulletin and on the website. A weekly flyer will provide the most current information and next steps.

We encourage all those interested in Confirmation and their families to participate regularly in Sunday mass.

Begin you Preparation Early

Marriage Preparation takes time, and we encourage couples to begin the process well in advance. Eight to ten months before your wedding is ideal, allowing you and your fiancé sufficient time to prayerfully prepare without feeling rushed.

All couples are required to participate in a Diocesan Marriage Preparation Program as part of their preparation.

Becoming Catholic

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a journey of faith for adults who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Church and discerning whether God may be calling them to become Catholic.

OCIA is also an opportunity for baptized Catholics who have not yet received all of the Sacraments of Initiation - Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist to receive the sacraments they are missing.

Throughout the process, participants learn about the Catholic faith, Sacred Scripture, the Sacraments, the Trinity, Christian morality, the Church, and Catholic social teaching. Most importantly, OCIA is a time of faith sharing, prayer, reflection, and growing in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

The OCIA journey typically begins in the fall and continues throughout the year, leading up to the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil.
